Hello all. We're getting ready to enter into the world of Duramax diesels. We'll be purchasing a used vehicle soon in the range of '06-'07, 3500, SRW, LBZ motor. I hope we'll find a one that will fit the bill of RV tow truck. From my research, these trucks will fit very well. I was a Ford guy before we bought a friend's GMC Sierra 1500. I couldn't believe how nice it road for a pickup.

Now, we're GM fans. This forum as well as a few others have a been a wealth of information. We're not going to be modding like a lot of folks, no off-roading, unless we absolutely have to. We'll be retiring and traveling the country with a 5th wheel. The GM products look like we'll not have to worry about reliability. That's the big number in my book.

Glad to be here. And remember, no laughing at the old guy. ;)

Trigger pulled. We are now the proud owners of a 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Classic. After more research, we decided to go for the short bed. It has 118K on it. Dark blue metallic. Cloth seats. Rides like a big Caddy. I did find some rust on the brake lines back by the left rear wheel just around the hanger. They didn't feel weak, so, I felt they would be ok for some time. In the future, we'll replace them. Truck is stock. I do plan on performing the EGR block plate/finger and PVC reroute. The tranny temp gauge did seem to react very slowly, so, the deal includes a replacement stepper motor. I will be using a Scangauge2 on it to confirm the fix. Otherwise, everything else was in great condition. No leaks. Smooth shifting. Hard braking was straight. Romped down on the pedal and it took off. No delay. Absolutely amazing. Scared the crap out of my wife and made the sales guy nervous.

Will pickup when they call about it being ready. Hopefully tomorrow evening. Can't wait. :thumb:
