04 lb7. Friend says he's losing coolant, doesn't get hot, doesn't blow out overflow. He drove an hour to my house and I grabbed upper rad hose and it was soft like it had been sitting for a week. It blows white smoke some after it's sat awhile. Smells heavy of burning coolant. Could the water seals in turbo be leaking? How else could coolant get in exhaust without pressurizing system ?

cups or headgaskets. cant remember who it was on here but they had a truck that would let water in through the headgaskets but seal up under compression, which wouldnt over-pressurize the system

Ok we head gaskets and studs on this truck, I tried talking him into having heads checked but he insisted it wasn't necessary and was sure it was gaskets...(his truck so whatever) but now it has the same symptoms, it's drinking coolant but not pressurizing system. The cups were all good when I had it apart. He says it only loses coolant as it warms up. The only thing left it could be is heads right?

In my House
^ this is why you don't take jobs unless there done right bc it just turns into a guessing game. My guess would be the heads or the turbo seal if you just replaced the head-gaskets take the glow plugs out see if you can see coolant in any cylinders. Good luck

If I unhooked dp and pumped up the system coolant should run down from turbo right?

Would it be ok to plug off coolant lines and take for a spin to see if system will go ahead and build pressure?

Shouldn't hurt anything because oil temp should be same as coolant temp anyways lol
