I'm getting ready to move back to Texas from Alaska soon. I am having to fly down and save up some money so I can come back to Anchorage to get my truck and cargo trailer with everything I own. Tools and all. Lost my job here, Long story, not getting into it. Anyway, the truck will not be driven for about a year, maybe longer. Depends how soon I can get the money up. I'm worried about fungus in the fuel after I get back to get it. I know that I will have to change the oil and tranny fluid, and the fuel filter. But I don't want to change it again after I'm down the road because of fungus. What can I add to the quarter to almost empty tank to keep fungus at bay? Thanks for the help. And yes, I did a search and came up with nuttin'.

I'm not sure what additive would work in that situation. Stab-ill won't work in diesel's will it? I'm thinking there's some sort of algicide or something that can be put in the tank.

Theres Algicide's and tretments for diesel fuel out there, might google it or someone else might know where to get it BUT, a year might be a strech on fuel stability? Anything i store for extended time I will remove the batterys and store elsewhere, they'll be dead after a year and I dont want them in my car and have it start leaking. The vehicle gets put on jackstands on the frame all around so that the suspension is unloaded and tires off the ground. Open the hood, keeps rodents from nesting (they like it enclosed) somthing like this, id like to somehow have some air movment in the cab to keep from getting stale Or use desicant bags. Not sure how to applie this to a diesel, but i empty the fuel system, lines, filters, etc and use fogging oil sprayed in the induction while cranking and through spark plug holes after cranking. close off intake path and exhaust Also i periodicaly crank the engine over, long durations of sitting in one position is bad on valve springs and components under tension. Thats the steps i take to keep my stuff ready for me till im ready for it.

That's why I am asking here. I would have asked on DP but I have a feeling I will get barraged with use your search button. and all that crap. And I did a search there also. Thought I would ask the more professional people. Was wondering what additive would help to prevent algae.

Sorry. I was typing when you posted.

To keep the battery healthy, you can buy those cheapo solar powered trickle chargers, they may help. Or if you have power available, use the self regulating trickle chargers-they work quite well. If you leave them in the truck, be sure to disconnect them.

As far as the fuel system, leave the tank as empty as possible add some sort of fuel stabilizer, and cross your fingers. Sorry, that's all I got.

Leaving the hood open is a good idea. I do this with my sled and other toys and it keeps the rodents out.

A handful of bounce laundry sheets also will work well to keep the air fresh in your cab.
