Storing a CP3

How do you properly "store" a CP3 if you're not going to use it immediately, or if it was a used unit that has been off a truck for a while. Is it OK if they "dry out", or do you have to "keep them wet" with diesel or other lubricant?

Always wondered about this due to the number of used CP3s that get sold thru here monthly, and b/c nobody has ever said anything about it.
Does it even matter?

I picked up a used Sportsman CP3 off a member here today. He had it in a plastic bag that was tied shut with some diesel still in the pump. I'm not sure how long it had been off his truck, but looked good to me.

I'd pour some additive in the inlet and roll it over a few turns then cap the openings

I wouldn't use diesel it does break down pretty fast. I would use some 2 stroke oil, but thats just a guess.
