any idea as to how much hp a stock 6 speed ally trans will hold in a project that weights slightly under 2500 lbs? what difference would a trans jr make?

The 6 speed converter is not as strong as the 5 speed. When the converter flow valve strokes, it will still drop 100 psi all around and lose holding power to the clutches. Might do ok for a while.

Depends on the hp, but I would think with a transgo and a converter it would last a long time. I have a buddy that has a transgo and a BD converter in his 06 and it's been 2 years now with misc towing, hot rodding etc and his truck is set on kill 100% (500hp+-)of the time. It weighs 7500 pounds and made it 60k miles and no limp yet. :)
