stock tranny in a 2500 lb project

any idea as to how much hp a stock 6 speed ally trans will hold in a project that weights slightly under 2500 lbs? what difference would a trans jr make?

The 6 speed converter is not as strong as the 5 speed. When the converter flow valve strokes, it will still drop 100 psi all around and lose holding power to the clutches. Might do ok for a while.

Depends on the hp, but I would think with a transgo and a converter it would last a long time. I have a buddy that has a transgo and a BD converter in his 06 and it's been 2 years now with misc towing, hot rodding etc and his truck is set on kill 100% (500hp+-)of the time. It weighs 7500 pounds and made it 60k miles and no limp yet.

we decided to go ahead and build the tranny with all the bells and whistles,billet internals and custom convertor to go with the transbrake...
