I know a stock tranny only can only hold a 100 horse tune to live a long life. But if I get a really big tune and use it on open road for miliage with a dsp switch. Can it handle the power I don't want it for racing just for cruizing down the road. Thanks for the info

You can't give it too much fuel in 5th. You will LIMP it easy. It will get easier and easier. It's really hard not get on it while on the highway trying to get around someone in traffic. I'd run a 100HP tune and be real easy while in 5th.

I usually go well over 1/2 throttle to pass. It's gonna be hard to stay out of it. My trans lasted over 50K with a 500HP tune with no limps.

My convertor doesn't like to stayed locked anymore. I can blow thru it with 1/4 throttle in 5th. RPMS just go up!! The trans just stopped going into LIMP mode becaus the convertor can't hold. I wish it would have lasted 50K at 500HP. Mine hasn't lasted 10K on a 100HP mileage tune:(

I never went WOT (much) in the 4-5-6 shifts, drove with a little sense and all was well. :D

I did run it down the track about 15 passes. Countless street drags.

40" tires aint helping the cause any... :D

I have 4:88 gears but yeah.......it doesn't help much. I started with 36's, stock gearing. Went on to 37's with stock gearing for about 1 week. Went to 37's and added the 4:88's. Now with 4:88's and 39.5's. I ran the 36's and 37's on the 3:73's for 35,000 miles. I know that did help but i'm sure it didn't kill it quick. It was that damn EFI Live!!!!:rofl:

Not sure what a Full Transgo is or whether it is the equal of the Jr in the 6 spd..but still some measure of protection with a 100 hp tune...no? I would think it is the least expensive decent measure you can do. I can only spk from my experience with my own Jr. It was easy to install (with a good DIY), were fairly cheap parts..took a while to do mind you, but so far so good..almost 2 yrs, 100,000 miles. Not sure if the full kit is a job one can do on ones self or not.

..not running crazy tunes or even near.
But I do mess with it from time to time ;)

Id be careful with a 100 horse tune. For the most part the trans seems to take decent power in gears 1-4 but fifth really puts a strain on things.

My dads 05 has ran a PPE on 350 for 20,000. My truck also an 05 lasted about 10 minutes before It limped. Its all about how you drive it and after you limp it once its about time to go back to stock or tear it down.

There are some very good EFI mileage tunes out there that are around 100 HP. My mileage tune was based on my 450 HP tune the same tuner that did mine tuned a stock LMM for mileage based on a much weaker tune and he gets just as good mileage as I do.
