I took my 5spd apart this past weekend and as I did so, I noticed my input shaft was cracked. It started about where the splies are and ran all the way up to the top. It is a very fine crack, but it is cracked none the less. Obviously I need to get a new stocker or replace with a billet one but my real question is why this one cracked up and down and not clean off at the base of the splines??? Or perhaps this is common
Oh and it is possible that 343,000 miles has something to do with it. Truck drove just fine before I pulled it out.
