I just didnt want to tyoe it all out... I need another beer first.
I had bought the van new, and hadnt even had it a couple weeks. had a small landscape tilt bed type trailer loaded with sewage soaked carpet. Dumped the carpet at the dump and got on the highway. The trailer broke and spun around and tagged the side of the van before I could get it stopped. It dented the body behind the rear tire, took a chunk out of the plastic bumper trim and scratched the paint in the bumper.
Well, the dealer wrote the estimate for the ins co and said it needed a new bumper. I told the ins co to pay the dealer to fix the body and order the plastic piece, and cut me a check for the bumper I would take care of it.
The plastic piece has been sitting in the box for 3 years now, and I decided earlier this week to get the van prettied up for the scheid event this weekend. pulled off the old plastic cover and the tabs busted off. Painted the dings in it and sprayed some fresh paint on the front bumper ( I have had ford/dodge/and chevy vans and after 2 or 3 years the front bumpers look like crap)
went to put the new in the box plastic cover on the rear bumper and part of it was warped
and the stupid thing wont go on right. And I think I bent one of the tabs beating on it with a rubber mallet, because that's what you do to a step child beat on it.
I might just cut the bent tab off and heat the warped part to see if I can straighten it. But I got a feeling this isnt going to go well. Good thing the fire dept is less than a mile away
