So I bought my 03 back in 07, it was a wreck that I rebuilt. I'll post some before and after shots.

I drive it, it rusts, I live in Michigan. It's primary role for several years was pulling snowmobile trailers through bad weather.

I begin to round up parts to redo the body, nice bed from Texas, rust free set of fenders from an 06 1/2 ton and a clean driver's side front door from an 05. Rockers and cab corners will be repops.

The LB7 begins to show hints of white smoke at idle, rather than put the 5th set of injectors in it, i do this;

Mid way through the LBZ conversion, this pops up;

2015 Denali LML, wreck with the added hail damage.

So now i get the itch to jump ship off of the 03 LBZ and spend mid 20k on the lml plus another 8k in parts?

03 is obviously paid for, the LBZ / six speed are purring right along. Motor and trans have 244,000 miles, body has 336,000 miles. It works, I don't need to spend that kind of coin on a 15, but I know the 15 would be a sweet ride, when its all done.

Talk me off of the ledge!

This is not a "how to" question post. My frame guy has already inspected the LML, we know the front will need to be sectioned (replaced) and even that will leave a little pulling to do.

Parts availability is a question, could be a problem.

Personally, I'd stay with the 2003. The 15 might be nicer (and I'm not convinced), but is it $28k nicer? You can keep the 2003 and get a used low mile sports car for the same $28k.

What do you do when you can't decide? Get them both!

That's what I keep coming back to. Right now I have told the seller I am going to pass.

The 03 will mostly likely be mine for a LONG time. Whether I buy a newer one or not.

With it having a rebuilt title and now I have Frankenstiened it even more, by putting a LBZ were the LB7 was. The resale it would pull, is way less than I could bring myself to let it go for.
