I wouldnt unless it limps , I ran my stage 3 up pretty high HP wise and it held up prettty good , if you go up to 650-700 hp it will hold for a while but it will fail eventually , but the cost is about the same if you do it before it fails or after so might as well roll the dice :D

Dont know Larry , i keep changing them before there worn out  I would figure 2-3 years from what I have seen on others truck and the forums and such , but depends on how hard you are on the truck , secound grear launches , staging for long periods ect will all shorten its life Yours should last 10 years Larry after all its a LLY :happy2:

Depends on the deal. I upgraded from a Stage III/1056 with 30k to a Stage IV/1057 with 5k because he was trading the truck in and it only cost me a set of $750 wheels for his new truck. Otherwise i would have left it alone.

Since we are on the topic how long will one last if you only run 500-550hp to it? Is it the same as stated above?

same as above but Mike has been running them longer than anyone so he would know best , remember the cost to refresh the converter is much cheaper than the initial purchase .

Thats true but i would still have to pay the guy to swap it out. Haha

So did you say 2-3 years? Was the 10 years just a joke?

The ML has been around for over 3 years or longer. Terry ( PI ) and I designed it for McRat to replace his SC 1057 which was a little too tight at higher elevations. It turned out pretty good and there are many of them running around now with great reviews from Duramax owners. The ML seems to like any combination thrown at it. Very few of them have ever gone in for refresh. I don't know of any, but there must have been some. I run this converter in my truck when I'm not testing something new. After testing, the ML goes right back in.

10 years was a joke  but i wont say it couldnt , depends on the use but dont count on it unless you drive like a grandpa or dont race . I know of alot of converters 2-3 years with 90k on them and still kicking , but are a little looser now then when they were purchased :D I havent seen an pattern to failure based on time , mostly use and even then it doesnt happen often , maybe others have noticed something different .

Edit :Oops Mike beat me to it with a better answer :)
