Spool up pulling

I am having a hard time getting my turbo to spool right pulling. It is an HX55, 65mm compressor and 77mm turbine with a 1.0 housing. Built lly motor with danville tuning. It spools fine on the street but not on the track. 1st low won't do much at all till it hits second gear. I also think the stock shift points are hurting me a lot also. Anyone have advice? Getting ready to put dual cp3's on and don't think it will help on spooling but will on the big end.

if you got the coin , headers, upipes, and turbo blanket . its tuff to spool up a turbo in 4low , too easy to blow through the brakes .

Headers and up-pipes are not in the budget right now. Turbo blanket I could get, who has them? The thing is, i can put it on the floor for 5 second or better and it does nothing and then slowly starts building some rpm's. I am running a 1050 suncoast converter which should be fairly loose from what I have read.

the 1050 i believe is 3-400 less stall than a stock converter , i have never ran one but if that so there is your biggest culprit . I have a buddy running a s480 bushed down to a 2.8 and he can spool his with a loose converter . what you describe is the excact same as what i felt with a converter that was too tight for my truck .

Start in 2nd gear or 3rd gear. Just have them do it for tow haul mode only that way when your in normal driving mode it goes through all 5 gears The dual fuelers will help give lots more fuel

Spooling large chargers is mainly tuning. Even 3.2" inducers can be spooled if you get the tuning right. EFILive is the answer, or custom tuning.

But you can try this also. Don't floor the truck to spool it. Slowly feed throttle in. First hold it at 25% and wait a bit. Then 50% and hold it awhile. If it's still not spooling, give it 75% and hold it awhile. You can practice this on the street. Don't get in a rush. At a sled pull, you can take off when YOU'RE ready. The flagman just tells you when you are allowed to start spooling, not that you must go.

I messed around with trying to spool it up, not hooked to anything though. In 4low I can hold the brakes till about 1600rpm and get around 750 degree egts with no boost on the gauge but I can hear the turbo coming in. In 4hi I can hold it hold it to 2500rpm with egts climbing over 1100 degrees and around 10lbs boost.

It has been my expereince that you want at least 800* sometimes 900* before rolling out. To much fuel is just as bad as not enough.

i know when tuning my lbz bumping the maf scale up 5-10% works wonders spooling the turbo a little quicker off the line, smokes much more than i would like for street driving and towing but spools damn fast!

I am still a pulling noob. Would a first gear delete with a stock turbo help and is it as bad on the converter as it is for drag racing? I have played around in my driveway in four low trying to build boost but there was no way it was going to happen.

Yes it would help spooling and walking through the brakes. Yes it hard on the converter. Don't worry about "building" boost, get the egt's up, launch it & it'll light off. :D
