Spewing trans fluid

Got about 15,000 on my truck with about 10,000 on the SCIV. Seems a fair amout of fluid is dipping from the under side of the cab and exhaust and cross over member. I pretty sure its coming out the transfer case rear seal. The trans and transfer case are both clean and dry. Is this something to worry about or just a simple seal replacement? Is this normal on modded trans? I have some pump spring mod to up the pressure in the trans all the time (i thinks).

silly i know but i must say it... Is the dipstick pushed in all the way? Checked the cooler lines already?

Trans has nothing to do with rear seal on TC. Make sure you have no play at the driveshaft when you push up and down at the yoke; that would indicate a bad bushing in front of the seal. I would change it because somewhere down the line your TC will run dry.

I just didn't think a seal on the transfer case would go bad after 15,000 miles, it's a new truck. After he just put in a new trans? Spose i shoulda left it alone and asked him what color the liquid was.

I have seen a few of these TC seals leaking because of defects or careless install of the driveshaft. If installer slammed the driveshaft into the TC the lip on the seal will get damaged.

how can the dealer even tell? installing a deep is not going to void a warranty. you should be fine

And so what? The worst they can do is tell you "we can fix it but it's not covered under warranty" and you say "thanks very much", pay your $20 bill for the labor and then fix it yourself. At least then you would know for next time!!

I pulled the drive shaft yoke today to replace the seal. There are a couple nicks and a very slight scratch. They could be the source of the leak. I wonder if the trans shop who installed my SC IV did it? Seeing as how it has never been pulled until they did the work, I cannot see why it would be scratched. I guess I should take it to them or just buy a new yoke myself?
Seems they should be liable, but its been about 6 months or more.

It wouldn't hurt to at least talk to them. Hope you get it squared away soon.

I would try the shop that did the install as like you said, they most likely muffed it up. If they won't help you, maybe you can just buff the scratches out with some 220 sand paper or emery cloth. If it still leaks then I guess you know your options.

But I need to see how bad the scratches are before I can say it would work.

I'll worry about it and post pics in about 4-5 months. Have to go from CA (old AF base) to Co (Home) back to Ca (x-mas), back to Co (drop off family post x-mas), then VA (new base for training) and back to Co again (after 3.5 months training). Just about 7,000 miles. I'll be gone for awhile.
