Speed Week (salt flats)

My birthday is in August and I have wanted to go all my life, so I am gonna take a few days off and go. A few friends are gonna come too.

Heres my questions?

I have a r/v-toyhauler, can I bring it and camp up there?
Whats it like, something a few young guys would enjoy?
Any info anyone has would be great, Thanks.

From what I have read you have to camp down the road. No camping at the actual Salt Flats.

I pretty sure Pat is going.

Good luck there was no room for the RV with trailer. Your set up might be a little shorter and they might have space.

IDK much about the camping in Wendover. I've only been there gambling a couple times. And racing once, on the (race track) landing strip with a jump in the middle

Is it that busy during speed week? Never been during that time of year.

Is Goodfellow supposed to be there? Brought him some jet fuel tanks that were supposed to be the new salt flats car and he showed me the old car at his house. Pretty sweet.

3rd week August so far I know, the engine (LLY) is done so far with some godies on it

I copied this from another site. I would assume you've searched a bit but heres some info anyway. I didn't think you could camp right on the salt but it looks like you can.

The same exit you take off I-80 to get to Bonneville there is a truck stop with very clean showers, you could eat off the floors. You can also buy water or eat dinner/lunch there.

About a 1/2 mile after the truck stop you'll see where everyone is camping, find a spot and you're home. If you stay on the road after passing the campground you'll be going the right way to get to Speedweek!

PS - I read at another site, that often there are rooms available when you arrive, but no guarantee. Many folk "want" to show up, and reserve rooms but can't make it.

The North American Eagle might be there to go for the absolute land speed record. About 800mph is the goal. Sonic boom territory.
