Texas!!!
That's odd. I thought cruise came standard on all trucks in 06. I know the stripped down 06 3500 work truck we had at work has cruise.

I used the factory setting for the speed limiter for a cruise control on Blue when I drove to Florida. 96mph.

I get pulled over in West Texas:

"Do you know why I pulled you over?"
"Because there's no plate? I just bought it last week."
"You were going over 90mph.
"Dang, I wasn't even looking at the speedo. This new GMC pickup is so smooth, that it feels like a Cadillac. It's got 10-way power leather seats, yap, yap, yap"
"Yeah, I got a Ford 7.3 diesel at home, yap, yap, yap"
"Yap, Yap"
"Yap, Yap"
"OK, here's a written warning, just slow it down some, there's radar everywhere around here."
"I'm sorry, I'll keep it down to the speed limit."

I split, and next thing you know, I'm using the limiter as a cruise control again.

Reds and Blues again in mirror 90 miles later.

"Do you know why I pulled you over?"
"No plate?"
"You were going 90+"
"This new GMC is so smooth..."
"I've got a Ford at home"
...
"Here's a written warning."
"OK, I'll slow down."

Isnt adding cruise as simple as changing the turn signal stalk to one that has the cruise buttons?

yeah pretty much, as far as I know. All 2003+ small block gm gassers and ALL duramax's and 8.1's are drive-by-wire so they have the cruise control capability already in the ECM. All you need to do is plug in the cruise control turn signal stalk. Its not like the olden days when adding cruise control meant lots of wiring, expensive modules, etc..
