That is the same thing Dustin told me. I don't have a RPM goal in mind right now. I would like to put twins back on when the money allows. But I don't see myself racing very often seeing how this is my DD and I wouldn't be able to hang with trucks like White Out in SS. I guess its good insurance just want to make good its a good thing before I drop the coin on one.

if you don't plan on drag racing it then don't do it...

I have not added one to my truck yet also heads are stock. I have twisted mine to 5000+ a few times. If your short on money I would keep the stocker and add the new one later when you have the spare change.

so you dont have to balance the rotating assembly when you install one due to it weighing less? or will it be fine to add later since it will aready have been balanced?

My motor was balanced with the stocker. I was thinking the same thing and had asked Guy if I could add one know and he said yes. But make sure who ever balances your motor does not play with the weight on your dampener when doing it then it will not work right.

yea i have been reading a bunch of old post about it. as long as my stock damper is not damaged and no weight is taken from either the damper or flywheel i will be in good shape... at least thats how i read it.

IMOP most of us don't need it , but if you have the coin its a good piece , And is a must for a 10 sec truck , safety rules say a SFI balancer is needed for 10.99 or quicker .

FWIW, the first time my motor was balanced, it was done with the stock damper. Then the SoCal damper was put on and it was out of balance. I don't remember how much, but it was enough that my buddy who was doing the machine work had to redo it.

i remember reading that post in another thread. but didnt guy say it wasnt normal to have happened like that? i thought i read him saying that you should be able to add his damper even to a build after it was balanced as long as the stock damper you were using was in perfect condition. could it have been that your stock one was damaged?

If your gonna spend the money on the balance guess what your doing when your changing rotating/reciprocating parts after the balance :D Throwing away your money spent on the balance  It may still be close but do you pay hard earned money for close or do you want perfect? I dont balance engine parts but I have balanced rotating parts for pumps, compressors, ect...I'm not claiming to be a balancer guy but we had one at the last place I worked and played with it a little. Things change alot by changing parts or by just moving them a little, I know one thing I'm really picky about balance work now. Its pretty easy for the guy doin the balance work to say aw thats good enough, print the paper off, change something or not mark stuff and guess what its outa balance. :(

yea i think i will wait on buying the damper. right now i dont feel it is a must due to not running 10.99 and i wont be turning all that high of rpm. thanks everyone for the advice. maybe the $$ i would have spent can help fund a new turbo so i dont have to go back to stock (Trent i will be in touch)
