I got stuck on my roof today... And she just sat there any looked at me.:hello::thumb:

I had a few shingles get pulled lose in a storm we had 11/2 week ago. Stuck most of then down this last weekend, but the one tube of sealant of had wasn't quite enough. I have a rule that I don't get on the roof unless my wife is home to call 911 when I fall off it. Its a taller then normal 2 story with a pretty steep pitch. Well I broke that rule today since the wind was hitting 30mph today and I didn't want it to tear the shingle off the roof.

I was going to clamp the ladder to the gutter, but didn't have much trouble getting the ladder up by myself and the wind was blowing it against the house. So I thought it would be ok. It also didn't budge for the bit it was up before I went up on the roof. It sure did though about 1min after I got up on the roof though.

So called my wife to get our neighbors #, but its in the house ofcorse. So I went back to fixing the roof and waited for someone to drive by. After a few attempts to get some of our neighbors attention that where driving by failed I was contemplating jumping. Then our next door neighbor can home and heard me holler and came to my rescue.
He is a really nice guy and always comes and chats or helps me when I out working in the yard, but he doesn't speak English all that great and isn't the kind of guy that knows how to use a extension ladder. After a bit and help from another neighbor they got the ladder up and I was on my way down.

Now I have to fix the few pickets off my fence that the ladder broke on its way down. Atleast the ladder was ok or I would of jumped since I can think of any of our neighbors that have a tall enough ladder.

Been there man.

I am a bigger guy and me and roofs dont see eye to eye. I only go up on them if I have a long rope from me to the ladder ( long so it wont pull you down if it falls ) that way I can get it back up if it gos down.

I wasn't up there to long maybe 30-45mins. I'm glad some of you feel you have the same luck as me. Since I felt pretty brilliant at the time. What a cliche "man goes on roof only to get stuck up there". Whats funny is I grew up building houses and never once though that the ladder might actually fall and I would be stuck up there. I normally walk around the roof fairly carelessly, but not after the ladder fell since taking a tumble off the roof is normally the next thing that happens to The Tool Man.:D
