Hey guys, I don't post very often but I definitely find this site very useful, and have a little dilemma.
So i'm in the process of installing the II S366 Silver bullet right now (kind of on hold b/c BD diesel sent me the wrong install kit) and just have a few questions for anyone that has any experience with it. I'm confused about how my turbo inlet pipe (mine is AFE) is supposed to mate with the turbo, the clamp wont fit because the AFE piece is to big. Now do i have to get a LBZ mouth peice or is there a way to make it work. In BD's install instructions there is no detail and it just says install "turbo mouthpeice". one last question, the down pipe BD supplies is exactly 4" at the mating point of the front pipe which is also 4", they supply a stainless clamp i'm just wondering if it is designed to go into the downpipe, or do i just clamp them together with the edges lined up? appreciate any advice.

The intake tube will have to be cut to fit the turbo inlet horn (at least with a k&n intake it did) and you should be able to line the grooves on the turbo/down pipe up and tighten then together with the v band clamp. Hope I helped.

Ok, so just grind off the excess around the afe piece to make it fit, Sounds simple enough. Just didn't want to start ruining good pieces if I didnt need to. I wish the directions were a little clearer..lol. As for the exhaust, i'll just make it work somehow and probably take it to an exhaust shop later down the road to fabricate something up. Just gotta make sure I can still remove the downpipe if I need to :thumb:. thanks man, well see how she goes.

On the down pipe it should be flared at the end and the 4 inch exhaust should slide into it ive done 4 366 installs and they have all gone very smooth.I put the down pipe up the the turbo and put the clamp on so it will still rotate a bit and then I went under the truck and pushed the whole exhaust to the back of the truck then rotated the down pipe to line up with the exhaust and slide it in with a little grease on it.also while the down pipe and the exhaust are side by side and relaxed you can cut the elbow off the exhaust because you will be able to see right where it needs to be cut.

Can you post a pic of the front of the turbo? does it have a lip for a clamp? Mine just used a 4 inch boot but mine is lb7.

I put a silver bullet on my LLY and I used a 4" short 90* silicone boot and a length of 4" exhaust pipe I had laying around to connect the turbo to my S&B LBZ intake. The downpipe in my kit had a bell end on it and I just had to cut the front pipe to fit it and put the clamp over the connection point.

Thanks for the replies guys, turbo is in and she rips! Sounds amazing too. Ground down the mouthpeice and it fits great, and for the exhaust i just matched it up, and clamped her down tight as @%#~.
Got a couple questions though. So been driving the truck around and it runs great but i keep smelling burning oil. I know I spilled some on the block and turbo when i was installing, my question is how long should it take to burn off. I've driven it about 30 kms so far. I checked the top of the oil feed and it looks fine, hard to see the return line now, but i might double check tmw. Also, the turbine side of the turbo gets freaken hot (i have no heat shield) and i'm just wondering if this is normal... obviously its gonna be warm with the hot exhaust gases but its really hot. just don't want to damage my new turbo! Any chance the feed line is plugged, or would that nuke the turbo right away.. I'm probably just worrying to much!

its definetly going to get pretty effin hot, but im not sure whats too hot. you could take the oil feed line off the turbo and put it in a can to see if its feeding oil properly, quick crank of the key and oil should come out of the line. without lubrication tho that turbo wont last long..

sometimes oil has taken awhile for the smell to burn away for me. it was hot enough to make it stink, but not hot enough to make it burn off quickly.

I would not take the line off the turbo and start it, I would rig up a gauge to check oil pressure at the turbo if you are concerned

X2.
Talk to Levi on the site here at Turbo Performance. He can make you a turbo blanket for a reasonable price.

Ok guys, update. So I did unhook the feed line and started it for like 2 seconds and the feed line started firing oil out.. so good there (didn't read the previous post until now). I then found that my drain tube was leaking a bit right from the turbo. What a pain in the ass trying to tighten those nuts with it mounted...lol, but got her snugged up for now. I forgot to install the lock washers on the drain tube studs, so when i get enough motivation ill probably tackle that.. hence the burning oil smell. I then noticed my intake tube was partially popped off, so went ahead and fixed that. I took it for a rip and she goes real good, but then i started to hear a whoosing sound and was rollin coal like it was going outta style... i checked everything again and the intake tube popped completely out... obviously to much boost! so went back in there and tighten the crap outta everything and rigged a hose clamp around the y-bridge and intake to hold her on tight, at least until i can drop another $500 on a full egr delete y-bridge pipe! man does it sound good though, thanks for the help guys.

I have the same charger. Currently fighting a leak where my feed line screws into the side of the block, I made sure it was not loose. Then I unscrewed it and inspected the little rubber o-ring seal, seems to be fine. Put it back together and put hi temp silicone on the threads. It's still leaking, any ideas?
