It's not finished just yet, but I couldn't wait any longer to post. Been busy the last couple days!
Started out by pulling the trans... this is a pretty long winded process. Some aspects were easier than I expected (TC bolts and bell housing bolts), and some things were harder than I expected. My 06 doesn't have a nut on the alternator, but I was able to turn it over with a screw driver on the flywheel teeth. First day I pulled the trans, pull the up-pipes, did a little work to them, wrapped them etc. Stuck my new DPC single converter on the Allison. It didn't want to seat all the way, finally figured out the splines were a bit to tight to do by hand, had to tap it with a block of wood
Day two I pulled the stock turbo off. Not terrible with the trans out, didn't remove the egr delete pipe, bridge etc. left glow plug controller and all that in. Wow the valley is deeper than I figured! Started the new sideways turbo build. (Thanks to Trent at EPR for a fair price on the 366  ) Built an oil drain flange and pipe to hook a drain line to. I bought some stainless pipes, flanges etc. to work from. Just kind of winged it on turbo placement, and I think it's going to work great!... the hood even shuts
Tacked it together and started welding things up...
Day three (today) Finished building the up-pipe2 setup. Made some braces to help support the turbo. Wrapped the setup and installed it, then installed the turbo, drain line etc. Made a feed line utilizing the factory banjo fitting. Made up a hydraulic hose to finish that up. Built the intake, also modified the hot pipe to get that done, put in provisions for my water/meth and boost gauge etc. That pipe came out pretty nice.. was worried it would look cobled but it looks good. Setup is pretty well done other than the exhaust. Tomorrow I think I'll stuff the trans back in so I know exactly where the motor will be sitting before I start on the hood stack
Thanks for looking guys... been wanting to build this for a while now. Every once and a while I gotta take on a big project and really get my hands dirty
I'll keep updating the thread, plan is to have it running and start tuning it friday... saturday at the latest if I run into snags.. Not going for big power, still stock clutches w/ a co-pilot. Going for decent HP at a high rpm to keep the torque from getting too high.
thanks,
Todd
