Hey everyone,

I curently have a CCSB 07 vmax 6.0L silvy and cant seem to enjoy it while paying over $2200 a year in insurance for it. Also after pulling my camaro on a uhaul trailer about 100mi I found out that gas burners or at least mine dont like towing too much.

I am pretty new to the duramax sceen but very involved on other LSX type of fourms. I have been doing my homework on what years have what issues etc... But maybe you Duramax regulars/expierenced floks can help me out?

I want a crew cab short bed 4x4 Dmax, and for some reason i really like how the silvy 03-07.5 front ends looks, but if the right deal arrises i won't care one way or the other. I will be putting a decent size plow on the front and probably a bed style salt spreader on for the winter. I will be towing several diff things form bobcats to fithwheel trailers, and boats probable not over 15k lbs tho. Most importantly I need to beat my buddies powerstroke but that should'nt be hard since he's only running a high 12 sec 1/4 mi time. NOT (well maybe down hill being towed by a DURAMAX) OH ya i really want to Smoke up a few intersections too.

Ideally i would like to pay no more than $20k depending on the mods/stuff done already to the truck. I really would like to have an exhust, programer, and torsion keys/small lift, the list probably would'nt stop there, but i would like everything else to be in 100% working condition.

On the other hand would i be better off getting a pretty much stock unmolested truck for a cheeper price? And with the $ saved originally, add to the truck my way and my choice of products/parts.

Overall i'm just wanting a kick ass DURAMAX that will last a long time. I eventually plan on making serious power but i just want to get to know what i'm up against first with this new breed of animal to me.

Thanks for any info/help with my future buy and sorry for the long post, just wanted to say everything Im going to be doing and any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks Again
Cord

Welcome aboard....this site has some of the best/knowledgable engine builders and DD freaks around.

me personally I try not to buy anything that has aftermarket parts installed unless I knew the guy/girl selling it or had a good knowledge of who did the installs.

I've always ran into issues when i did buy something with aftermarket before with either incorrect installed or just things messed up in general.

Pretty much any duramax will last a long time as long as you do your maintenance on time and with quality products.

Only ones that really have a PITA issue is the 01-04 LB7s with there injectors.

But I'm sure other people will chime in.

Thanks man,

I've had the same issues with other toys, but i guess i'll just have to see what kind of deals arrise in the future. And this site seems to have a ton of very interested/expierenced people from what i can see already. I mean doing a little reasearch a coupple guys are pulln 10 sec 1/4mi times. Which is kinda funny since they would have tossed me in my actual go fast car which is ment to pull the wheels up. Well thanks for the help and hopefully others will give a little insight too.

Thanks
