Has anyone done a shortbed dually conversion? Just wandering how it turned out and what kind of money was invested? I found these flares (duallyfenderusa.com) but not sure how much it would be to have them installed and painted plus new rims and tires adapters and all the small things I never seem to think of til its to late:)

I didn't really ask if you like it or not.

Are you thinking about using the 3500 springs and all out back or just add dually wheels and air bags. and also adding the wheel front spacers for the front dually rims. I think it would be knda neat looking atleast on a cc truck not sure how I would like my ex cab done that way might look kinda werd and to short then.

Instead of buying all of the spacers and rims, just find a wrecked dually at the junk yard and get the parts you want.

With the right color, it could look sweet. Much better than the dodge mega cab short bed (just my opinion).

I was thinking just add the wheels and airbags. I don't really need the extra GVW but miss the staybility of pulling with my old 1990 3+3 dually. (I don't miss the MPG 8 empty and 4 pulling! ouch!) yes I would add the front wheel spacers and 19.5 rims.

Ya thats right around the mileage that my father gets with his Texas limo, 454 with a 3 speed & 4:10s. I keep trying to talk him into getting rid of that truck(he mostly uses it for hauling his race car) & the mid 90s suburban that has 300K for a crew cab Dmax.

Drive to Colorado and we can switch the front hubs, rear axle, springs, and all the rims/tires

Food for thought! Where in Colorado? I'm not sure how long it would take to swap everything out and my Vac. fund is running low! Would you ever be willing to come to MN? How many miles on ur truck? What gear ratio do you have? mine is 3.73 with govlock, we might have to swap front as well. How much is left on and what are the tires? mine are Nitto Terra Grapplers with 1/2 left I think. I would want to swap pics first so we would know what we are getting.

Omg That is hideous. I hate all the old trucks (73-87) RC/SB. Do not get me started on that "thing" Just my opinion but OMG lol

i guess your a fan of the p.o.s newer trucks...those trucks are built like a rock not like these new tin cans...dont go out and knock on your truck for luck you might dent it

Not sure what type of MPG you get now. But if you go to 19.5 and dually wheels I think your 3.73 is going to kill you on power and MPG.Red's though on swapping out everything is a good deal swap rears both and spacer wheels and all and add the wider dually wheel wells to your truck and be nice.

I would agree with you on that. A 1" body lift, blocks in the back, and keys would also be added if needed to clear a little bigger tire(maybe a 33" tall tire or what ever would fit with out rubbing). I wouldn't want to go too tall as I still want to pull my 5th wheel. Don't most duallys come with 4.10s? If that is what red has I would be set? Or do you think I would need a little deeper gear yet?

yes I think all duallys come with 4.10s and just going up to th etires you said should be fine. But like you said have to swap both rears front and rear. When and if you swap the parts from like Reds truck you could also swap the body mounts to get the clearence needed.
