Guys,

We have 2 Dmax shop trucks that are acting up.

2001 - bone stock, never tuned. 250k miles. Starting to vibrate in 2nd gear bad. P0741 and P0740 codes.

2005 - has been tuned and limped in past but was set back to stock. Also run low on fluid once. Slips/flares and slams the 1/2 shift. No codes. 200k miles

Thoughts on either?

Thanks,
Ed

P0741 is converter clutch not locking. P0740 is electric circuit malfunction for converter clutch ( never seen that code come up ). Vibration in 2nd is any ones guess. 250K miles indicates a lot of things are probably wrong with trans.
On your '05; running it with a program and running out of fluid and having high mileage means the trans is ready for rebuild. Putting it back to stock does not erase the previous abuse.

Sorry mike it was a 741 and basic 700 code. Not 740. That was a typo.

I wasn't sure on the 01 but I knew the 05 is prolly fried for sure.

As far as the vibration goes; check left front motor mount and trans mount. Front u joint can cause a vibration also.
