I have a couple heavy items that I need to ship across the US. Who do you guys that have shipped heavy stuff before use?

I will need to ship a block and a crank to Montana from two differerent states and am having a hard time figuring out what it would cost or who to use. Just based on rough estimates, the crank would likely cost a 1/3rd of what it would cost to buy it just to ship via UPS and Fedex both so I need other options!!

Or am I screwed and that's the only two outfits that ship in the US???????

Also, does anyone know what a bare block and a crank weigh seperately?

Thanks Jason. If I don't pick it up myself this winter, I will need to find someone to ship it with.

Here's the thing with truck freight:

Try to find somebody who owns a medium-sized business in your area who ships regularly. The prices are WILDLY different if you are just Joe Blow. I was quoted $800 to move an engine across the US, yet a company who ships regularly would get it for $400. FedEx Freight seemed to have the best price for me as a small shipper. But I've also used Yellow Freight as well. The "good guy" price at Yellow Freight is less than FedEx, but the "stranger" price was the other way around.

Correct - at my work we get 60% off published UPS and 55% off published FedEx pricing - including Freight for both companies. Is nice :thumb:

You guys need anything shipped, PM me. Airport to Airport I can do really really cheap, sometimes even free for you guys. I work for Forward Air(1 of the biggest shippers for freightquote.com) If you need it door to door, go with freightquote. They are awesome.

I got a short block from MO. It was about $450 from yellow frieght.

Was this shipped dock to dock? Was it shipped via a business or private? Just looking to get an accurate quote because yellow freight just quoted me $600 to ship a block from cali to ohio dock to dock!!!:baby:
