Shifting Problems

Hi,
I'm having some problems with my allison. It doesn't want to shift into some of the gears and the indicator light for the gear doesn't light up around all of the different gears. The trans is an ATS trans.

When driving, it just started clunking when you put it into gear. And not all of the gears work; as in, it won't shift into 5th.

The indicator lights also don't light up correctly. It doesn't indicate when you're in D or 2. The rest of them do work correctly though.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

NSBU switch maybe? Since the indicator lights don't work.

Maybe, but this trans is not even a year old.

Was it a new, drop in trans, or a rebuild? It's possible/likely your NSBU was reused. Given your symptoms and the fact that you have an 02, I'd say it's very likely to be the NSBU. It's certainly the easiest thing to check, and not horribly expensive if you have an Allison dealer nearby.

I believe it was just a drop in and not a rebuild of mine. Any tips on figuring out whether the NSBU is not working right?

yeah i would check the switch..i had troble with similar problems , i got mine for $150...

no way to really check if it is bad just change it they are cheap if you go to an actuall allison dealer. i got mine from allison for 45 bucks

damn i should have done that..and true you cant rele check them.
