Shifter binding need some help.

My truck has been sitting for a few months waiting for a motor. Got the motor in, and fired up. The problem I'm having is with the shifter assy itself. Even disconnected from the Trans it is binding. If I pull the clip off the adjuster on the frame, I can move it at the Trans to the adjuster. The issue seems to be in the colum, anybody had similar issues, and have a fix? Trying to get an idea before tearing the colum apart, thx.!

Disconnect it at the column and make sure. Usualy it's a bad cable.

mine pulls hard too feels like a cable issue havent done anything yet. mike how big of a deal is it to check it at the column?

Disconnect cable under dash and move shifter. It is very rare to have a bind up in the column.

Frayed cable probably. Happened to me once too.

My brothers truck has a bad cable, changing it soon.
