Let me setup the situation at hand... I'm on a long sweeping on-ramp to the interstate. Entrance speed is in the neighborhood of 35mph and need to get up to interstate fairly quickly but not too sudden. About 50-60% TP gets you accelerating quickly enough to not be a danger when merging into interstate traffic. Being's you start at 30-35mph you are in 3rd gear at start of ramp and shift through the gears to 5th at a nice rate.

Here's what I HATE. It's pulling nicely through third and clicks off 4th like it's supposed then WAY TOO QUICKLY after getting into 4th, it quickly shifts to 5th. Time spent in 4th is maybe a couple hundred rpm before it shifts to 5th. By this time the rpm drop over the three gears is enough that I have to lean on the throttle more just keep from slowing down, let alone speed up. It drops RPMs so fast that it almost snuffs the stock charger, a bigger one would surely be barking. :(

Same deal at WOT, goes to 5th sooner than I'd like.

Do I fix this shift timing in the ECM or TCM? Whichever one, where to look and what change to? It is frustrating! My wife's stock truck does this too but it's not as noticable because it's a stock tune (therefore it ain't pulling as hard as my truck is getting through 3rd and 4th :D and therefore doesn't get down on the charger much) but it does still go to 5th sooner than I'd like.

little help please. :beer

You sure can change that in the TCM. That's about all TCM tuning is good for. Open up the tune and look at Part Throttle Shifts and Full Throttle Shifts.

just be sure to raise shift speed and rpm at the same rate in the WOT section...

i actually slightly lowered my part throttle shifts......but raised my WOTs for my stock trans...i dont have the problem you're haveing though:confused:
