Okay im new posting here but have been reading alot. I just got a 2004 duramax lb7, and who could have guessed, it has fuel injector problems. But thats not the end of my problems.

The truck has 160k miles and it was loud, smoking intermittently, and when i pulled the dipstick it had a ton of fuel on it. So i took it in to GM and they told me nothing was wrong with it... haha. I took it to another dealership that was further away and they said i need new injectors. Finally got the first place to do it after a ton of arguing and alot of phone calls to different places.

After its in there for about 1 week they said they need to pull the head to get one injector sleeve out, ok.. About the 2nd week, they said they got it all put back together but they think it needs a new head gasket cause its still smoking and they said they dont know which one it is( i told them its the one they took off and didnt inspect or replace the gasket). So they replaced both of them, and of course it was like $5000. Now the 3rd week and they got it all put together and they say it smoking worse than ever and they think it has a cracked engine block. WTF! So they offered a new engine for 13K miles, and i told them i was just going to pick it up. Picked it up and its smokes like crazy( more than before), and its starts beeping saying engine overheated... WTF! So now its back at the deal and they are taking the heads off again, and its probably going to be a couple weeks. These people dont understand that i use this truck for work and that whens its in there im losing money, i need to pull my trailers and ive been stuck with my gasoline 5.4 ford.

The truck is a 2004 2500HD w/ 167000 Miles. Is there any legal action I can take towards this, this is completely unacceptable. Ive wasted so much money for no results. What is there to do? I dont think I will own another GM product for my fleet, all my fords are holding up including my 7.3 with 300K.

Sounds to me like this dealer is incompetent and you should go get your truck before they screw anything else up. Sounds like they were making other things up to get you to have to spend more money, too. Call GM and complain about your treatment so far.

Why didnt you just leave it at the second dealer...sounds like they were slightly more intelligent.

Good luck with your Fords. I hope you don't have any 6.0s...

Welcome to the site.

I would call GM and complain as well. That seems like incompetency at it's finest to me-from both shops!!

If they think the block or head is cracked, they better mag both and prove it to you before you go and buy another engine from them. And why wouldn't they put new HG in after they pulled the head to pull the cup. Better yet, why would they pull the cups anyhow? Is this standard procedure when replacing injectors? If it isn't losing coolant why touch them?

Like I said, sounds like incompetency!

GM guarantees their mechanical work whether the dealer is incompetent or not.

Always be scared of dealers who don't want to work on your Duramax. Not every dealer has an experienced Dmax guy on staff.

Like above, call GM. Write down the whole sequence of events, names, dates, addresses, paperwork, etc.

I left it at that dealership because it was a GMC, Cadillac, and Buick and i thought i would recieve good service. I even asked for my truck back at one point and they brought it back and only insisted to bring it back in casue he found the bulletin after a while. He said he only had one diesel tech. And no we only have one 7.3 as of recently the rest are 6.8l and one 5.4. But we are moving to diesels now because they are hitched to a trailer everyday.

We have not paid for anything yet, but now fortunately they are saying that we dont have to pay for anything but the transmission flush and rusted dipstick.

BTW, we have been talking to GM Customer Service since about week 2, and they are no help, and actually don't even seem to be listening, as if hes watching tv, and I was talking to the manager supposedly. They also have to cross reference the stories with the dealership service advisor and he's hard to get ahold of and doesnt call back.

Stay after the GM Customer service rep. It took a firm stance with them on my 02 Yukon a/c problem. I finally got it fixed correctly.
