server setup

What do I need to do to set it up to run at it's max performance. It has dual xeon 2.8 processers running server 08
It will only be ran on weekends probably, but I would like to get it going for new years.

What model are the processors? Or, what server? Xeon at 2.8GHz was offered in single core and multicore. You could only have 2 cores at 2.8 or you could have 4 or more.

The SMP client will max out cores without a flag up to 32, I think.

It looks to be single core with dual thread. Does that sound right? Will this be worth putting on?

4 cores (hyperthreading) at 2.8ghz will make about 4-8k PPD, certainly worth running.

How did this go for you? I have 3.2ghz coming, first two were lost in the mail box or out of it? Anyway, these are the ones I've got, if they can get the ppd as indicated above, it will be worth the extra heat. Ebay item 150533475745

These people sold me the second set for half of the first just cuz. :thumb:
