So for the last 9 months I have been in Afghanistan and my wife has been taking care of my truck. Months ago, she said it was stiff to move the shifter from park into gear. Fluid levels were good though, and actual shifting while driving was fine. The dome light also stopped working when you open the door(and no, not because of the dome override). Well last week she was driving from Co. to Mich. and in Kansas, my tensioner pulley took a dump and my serpentine disintegrated in the process. A shop fixed both and she was back on the road in hours. Thing is, that fixed the dome light and the shifting. I asked her if they touched anything electrical, and she said she was asking them cause it was working again, but they insist they didn't. So long story short, anyone know why a new serpentine would make my dome lights work again? Guess it doesn't really matter, but it has me baffled.

I hate to say it, but you may have another electrical problem. I doubt that fixed it. The problem just isn't showing up right now. I hope it's fixed but doubt it. :(

Didn't overheat or die, my keen wife noticed the voltage dropping and pulled over, in the process noticing the power steering was gone. Guess it doesn't really matter what happened, it's just one of those wierd things.....
