Truck has a subtle Slip, flutter or studder in 5th or 4th gear when I'm towing. Its been doing it for the last 3 months and its not setting any codes. Its starting to piss me off and I kinda wish something would break already. I pull a 12k trailer and load it with as much as 10k on a daily basis. Seems to me like I need to rebuild my trans and get a new converter but with no codes it leaves me guessing and I dont wanna do that. 35k on fluid, internal filter and trans go jr. 4k on external trans and fuel filter with no leaks. Whats the best way to diagnose this issue??? Tech 2???EFI??? Ride her till she bucks??? Thanks for any suggestions. John

More than likely its not your trans. I dont think the trans can slip without setting a code. Do you think it may be a long drawn out shift with some defuel? If thats the case Dustin can probably work that out.

Could be the converter clutch. I've seen them slip without throwing a code.

When your converter clutch slips dont you usually get a pretty good tremble in the driveline? When my trans was stock my converter would shudder if I luged it in high gear.

Defueling wouldn't surprise me. Its not happening during the shift though. It seems to occur when around 1700 to 2000 rpm's. Thanks for the suggestion. Dustin's tunes Rock! John

Yes, you can usually feel it and hear it. At least that's what I have experienced.

Update

Truck is still doing the same thing. It does seem to be getting worse though. I've been so busy I havent had the time to learn how I can check it with my EFI. I keep getting pulled away after glancing at it a few times and even tried hooking it up but there was some kind of error. As soon as I find out what the issue is i'll post it up. Cheers. John
