So, has anyone ever looked at putting in a secondary set of piston oil squirters in the block? Is this an issue we should even look into? My thoughts on failing pistons are similar to many others in that the cause is overheating them and I believe extra oil for cooling would be a helpful assistance in controlling this problem.

When we put Simon's engine back together I was looking at the oil gallery where the stock squirter is and it doesn't look like it would be too difficult to tap into it and install a second one. The only thing is that you may need to upgrade to a hi-flow oil pump to keep the flow/pressure up but that is a minor detail IMO.

Am I off my rocker here or what?

First you would have to have the notch on the other side of the piston skirt to clear it. When using stock (cut and coated) pistons for a build the oil cooling passages are in the pistons and the squirter sprays directly into the hole for those passages. I doubt that spraying blindly at the bottom of the piston would have enough benefit to be worth it. I'm running both the interal and an external oil cooler on mine to try to help the pistons and turbo stay cooler - we'll see how that goes.

Depends on the pistons
Also you should be able to point the squirter

A bigger squirter is a thought if you have upgraded your oil pump.

I allready upgraded the pump,Where does one find these bigger squirters?

I know a certain Bonneville engine that is getting dual squirters. :D

Very Nice! Stock squirters?

Yes, Casper's Bonneville engine is getting dual oil-squirters because of what we saw last year. The engine held up well, until the pistons overheated. So we are going to do whatever we can do to help keep piston temps down.
