I just bought 26 quarts of this product for my Alli when she comes back rebuilt. Excited to try it as I've heard nothing but good things about Schaeffers. Have any of you fellas used it or have feedback?

When I had mine rebuilt, I was told not to use synthetic in the beginning as it would not let the clutches break in properly. After 5,000 miles its safe to start changing.

We're do you fine schaffers at. Or do you have to order it online.
I was referred to my Schaeffers rep by Newly @ UDP. Maybe a Schaffers website dealer locator type of search would help ya. If you want the name/number of my guy ill shoot it over. I know he can have the stuff drop shipped to you.

I will look into your claim but have not heard of it before...

I LOVE Schaeffers oil and have been running their oil in my truck for quite sometime

Thanks for the feedback Andrew!

Never used their trans fluid but the oil we buy by the drum for all our trucks tractors equipment and vehicles for years I think it is a great product

Damian,

I ran their version of transynd, TE-295, for two years before I built my transmission. It ran WAY cooler than Dex 3 but the shifts weren't as crisp/firm, which I didn't like.

When I built my transmission I did a lot of research on what to put back in it and everybody that was a transmission builder said not to put synthetic Dex 3 in it.

It was my understanding the synthetic fluid has a tendinsy to laminate the new clutches.

I put Castrol Dex 3 in mine when I built it and it runs warmer than the transynd, but then again I expected it due to the the fluid and it being built.

I would definently talk to the person that is going to build your transmission or where you're going to get the parts from to see what they say.

The first time I lived in Kansas City I got a bunch of oil from the rep that my cousin uses in ND. He was great to deal with and being I ordered a bunch they delivered it for free.
I'm going to give him a call again to see what he call do; I would also like to talk with a chevron dealer.

I hope some of my rambling helped :D

I plan on using their motor oil very soon, I can buy it for around 5 a quart!

I scored 10 gallons of their engine oil for $100 at a raffle. That's going in the engine next oil change :D

Must be nice lol jk. Nice score! Glad to see someone deserving won one'a them raffle deals. For some reason it's always the obnoxious guy in the room that wins the cool prize.

Thanks for your feedback Russ. My past experiences with Amsoil and Transynd have given me the opposite result actually. On Amsoil my Trans never got above 207-208 and that was during hot summer afternoons towing trailers from stoplight to stoplight. After getting my truck built they had drained my Amsoil and filled with some Multi vehie fluid. Didnt shift as nice. I'm a believer in Synthetic for sure.

Hope your new ATS trans shifts Damian... Garrett got his back in the truck and it wont go out of first gear...

Poor guy has been through so much. His has a lot in it mine doesn't and hopefully less to go wrong. IDK I just want it to hold till I can save up for a big pimpin trans

Like mentioned, check with the builder. I had Mike build mine, and specifically asked about synthetic. That is when he told me they were having issues with the clutches not seating properly if synthetic was used at the time of rebuild However, using regular dyno oil then changing to synthetic fixed the issues.

No problem Daman :thumb:

That's weird you had the opposite experience :(
I'm a fan of synthetics as well but after hearing about synthetics potentially causing clutch issues I didn't want to risk it on my freshly build tranny :D

I've also contemplated putting synthetic back in it being its running hotter but I'll try a larger tabby cooler first.

Been running it for about 30k in my LML. I'm stock as hell so I don't come close to stressing my powertrain, but the LMLs come stock with Dex VI which is no slouch and the Schaeffer's stiffened up my shifts(especially converter lockup!!) and dropped temps. I was joking with a buddy that I have no idea if I have the right ammount of fluid in my Allison because the dipstick is accurate from 160-200*F and I can't seem to get over 156* in Tennessee in the summer!

Unfortunately my truck was still breaking in when I made the switch so I couldn't tell you if it impacted mileage. I got a $135 5gal bucket and did my trans, a buddies trans, and my transfer case. I'll probably get another 5 gals at 50k miles and do my tranny, transfer case, and put it in my power steering too because the viscosity and anti wear seem to beat the standard GM steering fluid at a way lower cost.

My educational background was pretty fluids intensive and Ive been testing different fluids in my truck. So far I haven't found anything I'd consider to have better properties than the Schaeffer fluids and I can get them locally for cheap. The only issue I've found with anything they offer so far is the 9000 series oil chemically leaches copper from the oil cooler, which doesn't seem to cause any problems but it could mask other issues in an oil analysis. I've been working on a solution for that, but I'll keep it to myself until I have some results to show.

Thanks for your feedback! I haven't put any miles on my refreshed transmission so hopefully ill have good feedback after a week or two.

I used all of Schaeffers fluid engine trans dif etc. I challenge you to find a better lube. They also make some of the best grease and penetrating oil I've ever used.
