I'm doing a trans rebuild on my truck (due to Trim A spring failing) and noticed a half drilled hole on the oil pump plate. Any idea why SC would do this?

Not half drilled. It is .020 and chamfered on one side.

I suppose I should have looked at it closer :roflmao: - Thanks Mike!
First Allison I have done and the manual didn't mention anything about it and the trans has already been modified by SC.

another newb/ dumb guy question.

Can I take the pump and bell housing off an 02 and put it on the front of an 05 or is there anything different with the input shafts? I'm putting a SC P1 sungear in if that makes a difference.

I was under the impression they are the same other than the cooler lines but just want to make sure I'm not missing something

Thanks!

For visual purposes: As long as you lift the bell housing complete by taking just the outer bolts out (stator support/pump stay together) and dropping it onto your trans it’s fine. The difference in input shaft is on the input drum side only. From 01-02 some and oddball 03 the T1 bearing is different then the later shafts and it won’t effect what you are doing.

next question, am I reatarded or does the ATSG show the P1 to P2 bearing facing different directions in the overview vs the install detail?

and follow on question-I'm guessing if it is in backwards it's pretty critical and needs to come back out ASAP. Just figured I'd ask before taking the trans back out.

Two separate bearings. The page on the right, you shouldn't have the trans that far apart if you're only changing the input around

Long story short it's a complete rebuild. My SC was pretty rough, and I had an LLY 5 speed stock trans. I swapped the bellhousing pump and VB (after swapping out the broken transgo trim A spring) onto the LLY with new clutches.

Edit: it's the SC 02 bellhousing, pump and VB on an LLY trans, with a SC C2 hub, P1 sungear and P2 planetary carrier. everything else is the LLY

I have a slight bearing noise that goes away when I put it into gear that I'm trying to figure out what I did.

This was the hub and C2s in the original SC that drove me to use the other trans as a core. I just figured it would be easier to swap Bellhousings pump and VB off the SC since they all looked good.

Why did you need a core just because of the work P1 drive flange and burnt c2? Both a common wear items. I guess I’m confused as to what you actually did.

I had the lly stock trans just sitting around so just used it instead of ordering new parts. the LLY was stock just slipped a few times so no damage to the hard parts. Kind of regretting that now
