If he would have ran his finger through with some speed behind it like we do when we use a table saw, he would have lost some, but it is a good idea

check out 1:30 in the video, they tried it with the franks ... safety equipment are here to help and not to play with, same with the chain saw safety pants, I will never try to cut my legs and see whether my pants are really working ... ;) :D

I remember when this first came out couple years ago. Not sure how many they've sold but its a VERY cool concept. They initially only had a cabinet saw but now they have a contractors saw too..

Ill still take our 1933 Walker Turner 10" cabinet saw though over it or any new saw. ALL cast iron, weighs a ton, the table is 10" deeper than any Delta Unisaw/Jet/Powrmatic saw, and the tilt and height adjustment wheels operate with a finger touch...so smooth and quiet you can stand a nickle on edge on the table top while its running. :D

Another thing silly about new stationary power equipment is the HP ratings. All this talk of "developed HP" and "max rated HP". Our table saw's motor is twice as big as motors today, and says a silly "1 HP" on the name plate (runs on 220v). But Ive used 3hp Unisaw's that would bog down on 8/4 Oak or something...our old "1 hp" walker-turner doesnt even flinch.

I remember seeing that before, good concept. It would be a good thing to have for a Vo-Tech school or someplace where alot of inexperienced people were using the machine.

We have a Delta unisaw in our shop, which I use on a daily basis. I know what your saying Ben about the adjustments. Just the other day my Dad said that saw needs tore apart and checked out. It seems as thought the motor or housing is loose. The blade is "walking" to one side, and the adjustment wheels are getting harder to turn.

It seems like the more experienced guys get it the worst, repetitive, menotenous, things tend to become so routine its easy to get lazy or loose focus. I have a 5hp Jet Table saw in my wood shop that gets my full attention when used ;)

That is true custom.

I have caught myself a few times going too fast, trying to get something done and doing something unsafe. Knock-on-wood though, they haven't been on the table saw. If it is a narrow rip, it gets my full attention.
My downfall seems to be nailguns when framing. I've shot nails in my left hand twice now, one in the palm and one through the side of a finger. Trying to hold a piece and shoot it on at the same time, is usually how it happens.

eh I shouldnt actually criticize delta, if I bought/had to choose a new saw tomorrow it would definetly be a Unisaw (5hp). At least its is still made in USA.

ironicly enough we have a 52" Unifence/table extension on our walker-turner, and I love it. Really nice fence IMO, always locks parallel to the blade, etc.

true that. locked skilsaw guards, pulled guards on chopsaws, pinned safeties on the nailers. Does make jobs easier but definately easy to fk yourself up if your not paying attention. Done that a few times

x2 on the fence, our saw has the same thing and by far the best I have used. No double checking necessary, just measure off the fence, lock it in and cut.

Iirc Delta was bought out recently by Black and Decker, I hope they are still made in the U.S.

yes, as far as I know, the Unisaw, 14" bandsaw, and their big stationary shaper are still made in the US. The Bigger jointers are too IIRC.
