San Diego Emissions testing?

OK, So ive got a 2004 Duramax LB7, and when I got it, the cat was sitting in the bed. The guy had chopped it off the exhaust. Well now I need to get it smogged, and I really don't want to rig up the cat to get tested. Ive looked in the glove box and door jam and both the stickers are taken off. So, are there ways around having to get the soot test done?.
The truck is stock except for my banks 6gun tuner and ram air intake, and muffler. All banks, all cali legal. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!!!

Put it on permanently but hollow it. Im in SD too. With efi live, etc. last time I took it in they didnt even start my truck. Just a visual.

How did you hollow yours out? And I mean is a soot test even required? or is it only visual?

I just did mine in LA county and the guy didnt even start it. If you have to, weld flanges onto the cat to use it then when your done remove it and install a "test pipe". But look for a smog joint that doesnt do alot of diesel trucks.:beer
