I first met Jim at Bonneville last year. The tech guys didn't like our window net, and put a 150mph cap on us. Someone told me to go find Jim Deist. I found him in a small panel truck in the pits packed full of all sorts of pieces and devices. I explained the problem to him, and he made it HIS problem. He kept scrounging around until he found us some parts that could block the full door on a pickup, something that isn't on Summit, Jegs, Simpson, or even Deist's catalogs or websites.
He was very much at home at Bonneville and the dragstrips from what I gather from other racers who have known him longer. His company is perhaps responsible for thousands of saved lives.
God Speed Jim.
