I was on the way home from work and got a little stupid with a good tune on my truck and she slammed into fifth and hello code po777. I told myself "way to go dumbass". So is this ever a fluke or always a sign that you're screwed until you build it?

It might have been a fluke, but probably not.

I've limped mine a few times, and it is a sign that you need to start saving up now...
After however many limps I have now (3 or 4?), I can now limp 5th by just rolling into it. Turning down the tune and/or being careful will get you by for a while, but a transmission is definitely in your future.

Time to diagnose and not guess. 6 speeds are not known to throw that code as often as 5 speeds. Time to check speed sensors and possible transfer case damage.

Mike do you think i need to tear into the transfer case ....i know the fluid level is good. And how do you test or check for a bad speed sensor? I cleared the codes and it shifted great this morning.

i was always told that if you put the truck in 4 low and the trans in neutral.. and if the truck jumps forward...that means the c1's are toast
