Any word on the playground about the new sx-e s488? We were tossing around the idea of running a 369/488 instead of the 366/480 I currently have so we could still use the same piping but sqeeze a little more air out of it.

This is not the same 488 that has been out, borg just released it a couple months ago. I know the 96mm turbine is limited to around 138 lbs/min but I believe this new wheel design or cover change may get a little more out of it.

Well, we will find out how it does. The 369 and 488 sxe are ordered. Might as well lay down some groundwork and try new things. I think they will work well.

There has been alot of talk on other forums about the 10 blade SXE compressor wheels. Some very smart turbo guys don't like the design and say not to expect anything to wild from them, also mention of the 96mm turbine being undersized for that large of a compressor.

I'm sure the turbo is still plenty capable of making plenty of power. A friend has triple s488sxe chargers on his dodge, but only the manifold charger has the 10 blade sxe wheel. The atmos have 7 blade custom wheels in them.

I read some stuff along those lines as well. If it doesnt produce what we want, we will just throw a tried and true s483 on it. I haven't seen anything on using it as an atmosphere charger in our application other than the old stuff, at least this way we will have some info to report.

Did he mention why he is running 7 blades on the atmos? I wonder if it is to help spool up since the 96mm turbine is a little undersized.

The 7 blade wheel can gulp more air on the top end instead of getting choked out like 10 and 11 blade wheels do.

What kinda power are you thinking this should make?

I'm lretty sure hsp is building a 369-484 combo for a truck right now.

Just looking for decent numbers north of 1000hp. The 100% over injectors will be the limiting factor. We basically just want to give it a shot and see how it does. I am sure a 483 or 484 will be similar but then again we may get suprised by it.

I have the 88 sxe on my half ton. Way different setup though.

How do like it on that LS? I have a buddy building a 6.0 with a log style and a box s480. Shooting for 700hp or so on e85 around 10-12psi.

Do you notice much spool up difference in the 88mm vs something like an 80 or 84?

Truck hasn't even fired up yet for more than 3 seconds

A box stock t6 s480 will make 900 horse on a 6.0.

He is keeping it conservative on a stock bottom end with arp hardware. I am sure we will push it further after he gets a few passes under his belt. And I think it's a 1.1 A/R TH so it should spool decently. I will be just as excited to see it run as I will mine! Lol

That will be a pretty potent setup!!

I do regret selling my 2 369 SXE's and the S480. was going to do a triple kit on the LLY.:(
