Just a general question for you guys, truck is finally needing some loving with the stopping department after 150k, any recommendations other than an OE replacement?

Probably just grab the stuff off rockauto when I can fit it in, but figured I would ask if there was a quality aftermarket setup.

Out and about
I have EBC3GD dimpled and slotted rotors with yellow and green pads. I like them, I'd also look into braided steel lines to replace the rubber ones. You'll be suprized what that will do.

I second EBC rotors and Yellow pads.
I'd go for the EBC 3GD rotors and yellow pads on all four tho, they're dimpled and slotted...
I've never been a big fan of using different pad compounds from front to rear, but many people do.

I've used EBC's many times and always loved them, this last time I upgraded to SSBC big bite rotors which are fully cross drilled and I have cracks around the holes on all four :(
they stop great tho...

I will be replacing them with EBC 3GD rotors as finances allow

Brake motive can find them on eBay. They sell power stop rotors cross drilled and slotted with ceramic pads. I have used them on mine and there great. Can pick up all 4 rotors and pads for a touch over 250.00

Now, gonna do braided hoses for the truck as well. For the fronts, my source for brake lines says he can't recreate the OE brackets, are they needed?

On the other side, why go aftermarket if the OEM setup lasted 150k miles? Like many, I always try and go aftermarket but when it comes to breaks and how long they seem to last I have stuck with GM. This wasn't a move based on "safety" but purely quality. When compared to say, Wagner Thermo Quiet pads the cost for OEM isn't that much different. Just my take but good luck to you. Josh

Not that I can tell...
There wasn't provision for the brackets on my Cognito spindles, so I've just got the brake lines attached by the little clip thingy that connects to the UCA and zip tied at the spindle.

If you're getting a set of lines made, you could get a set of brackets and have them placed over the line as it's being put together, or if it's possible you could just cut lines and take the existing brackets off

I had an issue with the Russel lines I bought for my lift, they were meant for an LB7 and wouldn't fit, I had a set made locally and the shop used my stock lines as a reference for length. When they were making the new extended lines they used the bracket off my old lines...

Wish they hadn't tho, those stupid brackets just hang there in the way

Just FYI-
There's a really great place for custom stuff like this called Clarksville Fastener. They make custom lines for everything and have probably seen it all, they'll make any type of line you want and usually in an array of sheath colors with an array of different connectors and connector colors...

I had been leaning to OEM, just was asking if aftermarket stuff added any benefits. Probably grabbing some severe duty semi metallic pads and quality rotors, just OE stuff.

As far as brake lines, I will convey the message to the guy making em and I will see what needs to be done to secure em.

Just an update, tossed some severe duty NAPA stuff on the fronts since the backs looked perfect. I am very happy with how it stops now. :D

Both sides on the front had some weird ass wearing going on and the inners were all but gone with the outers still retaining some material. Weird.
