I am considering buying a set of Roller Rockers that have a higher ratio than stock. My question is for those with experience with these particularly. Were they worth the money? Did you notice enough gains to justify spending the money on them? Opinions needed asap.
Thanks Shane

Higher Ratio rockers do have their place, but if the cam profile is correct for the application, they are not needed and can even hurt HP or even the valvetrain.

Going to roller is a good choice for freeing up HP, although longevity of rollers has been an issue in different scenarios. I've seen several in many different applications (gas, diesel, street, competition, etc) wear out and even fail. While not the norm, they have a higher failure rate than OEM. For a daily driver, sometimes the KISS method works better in the end.

Also is it a full roller or just roller tip?

One thing to watch out for with higher ratio rockers (regardless of roller or not), is piston to valve clearance. If you don't know what it is now, you generally should shy away from a higher ratio to prevent parts kissing each other.

Is the only kit out there for the dmax still the Harland sharpe? Anyone running them? $1800 seems like a lot of money

From what I hear they are the only ones making them. The problem that I hear is there is only one place to get them that is guarantied not to have a problem and that is FWDP Codyn. I think they could be beneficial but it is pretty expensive to not have enough insight into the overall benefits/dollar investment. I really want to know from real experiences in the DMax specifically. I have used them in gas engines and had no problems but they were Comp Cams Pro Magnum rockers.

I hear ya. I run full rollers in all my SBC or BBC builds. Be cool to have em in my dmax. But that sure is a lot of money.

I have a set new in box for sale. 1.6:1 intake and 1.75:1 exhaust. $1,400 if you're interested. Heads will need a little porting in the intake push rod area. We put a set in one of our trucks. Real nice product.

Pictures of them please. How did they work in your builds? Why would you want to sell t

I'll get some pics later. Worked well in our truck. Not sure what gains were since many things changed in the motor during build. The higher ratio helps get the valves open faster and open more. Plus the roller bridge eliminates friction. We ordered them for a motor we were building, but they didn't show up in time before motor needed to get back into truck. Took about two and a half months to get them cause they're so busy.

Zach Hamilton answered several of my questions about them...you'll see higher gains on a slow cam vs. A fast cam, to go along with what Dan posted above. Other than having the reliability of the billet rocker arms, in my motor I wouldn't see much gain to justify buying them.
