I was wondering what e.t you have to run to need a roll cage. And with a single cab do i have to have the bars coming out my back window.

You need a full cage at 9.99 a rollbar at 11.49.

You can do a search there are a couple of threads on them here.

rollbar is 11.49-10.0 or rollcage is 11.49 & quicker & faster than 135mph
there is a cage spec for pick ups that don't have bars running out the back
edit: found it
Steel-bodied pickup trucks (7.50 seconds and slower), roll cages
are permitted with no back braces if the roll cage satisfies SFI
25.1E, 25.2, 25.4, or the roll cage consists of a 4-point (door car)
cage with a complete SFI 2.4B, 2.5B, 2.6, 2.7A dragster, SFI 10.2,
10.3 altered, or SFI 10.4 street roadster roll cage/driver’s
compartment incorporated into and attached to the 4-point roll
cage. An upper windshield bar is mandatory.
Non-steel-bodied pickup trucks (7.50 seconds and slower), roll
cages are permitted with no back braces if the roll cage satisfies
SFI 25.1E, 25.2, 25.4, or the roll cage satisfies the requirements for
SFI 2.4B, 2.5B, 2.6, 2.7A dragster, SFI 10.2, 10.3 altered, or SFI
10.4 street roadster roll cage/driver’s compartment. No 4-point
(door car) cage is required and no upper windshield bar is required.

To run up to 10.00, a main hoop with two back bars, and 1 removable driver's side bar is the minimum requirement. It does not have to be certified, but it must meet NHRA book standards for a rollbar.

IIRC, a halo goes around the driver's seat up to the roof, and it's several tubes that encase the driver. Think funny car, rail, or farm tractor. 7.50 or quicker?

You will need the rear bars unless you plan to do a 25.x chassis... Most prob not going to be needed (i know assume). But you will need only a cage for 8.50-9.99 sec in the 1/4. 11.50-10.00 for a 5 point bar. Now if you have 2k hp.. You can start to get into the 25.1, 25.3, etc.. If your going to push the truck hard then put the bars in, "race isnt always pretty" as my dad has always told me.
My drag car is 25.5 and its a royal pain to get in and out of...
