There are different rules to run 10.0 then 9.99 or quicker.

To run 11.49 to 10.0 you only need a 5 pt roll bar.

I haven't gotten a 08 NHRA rule book. I can see what the 2007 book says tomorrow.

Maybe Chris has a 08 book?

The material thickness of an 1 3/4" 5 point roll bar needs to be .083 (4130 chromoly) or .118 (mild steel)...The 5 point bar good till 10.00 as long as you're slower than 135 MPH...A 1 5/8" roll cage has the same thickness specs...

This is all 100% true, just thought that I would add. When building a bar or cage, one usually uses .134 wall tubing for MS and the chrome is somewhere in the .9* range. This is so that it doesn't go under spec when you bend it and it thins on the outside of the bend. Also when you go to a cage not everything has to be 1 5/8, some bars can actually be smaller and can be thinner tubing.

Thanks Paul

On a reg cab will it have to go outside the back of the cab?

YES!, and the back window gets replaced with Lexan. I forget what it is, but there is a min. thickness for the Lexan as well. I need the 08 NHRA and IHRA rules books, haha. Its not bad though, it gets crazy when you start building 25.1 chasis' And they make you buy the damn book to show what tubes can and can't be used

You don't need to have the cage UTed for thickness unless you want to go quicker than 10.00. So a 5-6 pt they don't check, unless this changed

PS I'm pulling numbers out of my battered head, so feel free to slap me if I'm wrong
