My Roll cage builder gave me to options, plating it to the floor, or attaching it to the frame to stiffen it up a bit. Which one should i got with? Its about $400 more to attach it to the frame.

Check with your track.... I believe it has to go to the frame.

Also are you doing a cage or just a bar?

Bar will be good to 10.00, cages usually get certified to 8.50.

Last time I built a cage the rules stated it HAD to go the frame, the only way you are allowed to plate the floor in on unibodys. But they will prob never look as a bar does not need to be certified. Heck I built the cage in my car out of .093 mild steel.....UT machine can't tell them its not chromolly hehe

Doing the floor plates, and not going through the back window would save me a lot of money, but i want it right, would it help any to go to the frame and stiffen it up?

actually im just doing a bar, thats probably why he said floor plates would be ok.

I would still check with your local track and ask. We where told not to come back until it was welded to the frame. Hate for you to have to pay twice :(

I should have phrased differently, all cages and roll bars MUST go to the fame if there is one. I'm just saying what the rules say. Like I said befor they dont tech a bar and a doubt they will make you lift the carpet to tech in every time you go.

You can go with the bars to the back without going thru the windows.Since your a excab go down were the back seat would be.Have him install a cross bar under the floor and mount to that for the rear bars.Thats about what were going to do with mine.

Yes, go to the frame and run the back bars in the cab. I have seen some different back bars that allow 2 of the rear seats utilized.

Who does cage stuff in Central CA area? Ive got an offroad guy but I want a good guy to be able to hide mine behind the interior.

Just finished an 89Gt mustang this last weekend. Here are pic's of my 70 Camaro.

Talk to the local NHRA cert. tech and he will tell you what is needed, or go to a shop that has done a bunch of bars.
