I'm seeking information on the cans and cannots of building a cage for my truck. For instance what is allowed to accomplish fitment and best appearance. I would not want to cut the rear cab exiting to the rear frame and want those transitions to be tight to the cab while exiting through the rear glass. Appearance is very important to me. I want it to look like it belongs there. Any information is appreciated.

Who built Nasty Girls cage? I can't remember maybe Ken would know.

Has to go through the floor to frame, only unibody can be welded 6x6" plate

You have any pictures of yours Brian? How it fits around roof area and exiting through the glass. Do you have a halo at the roof?

his old truck just had a standard 6 point cage. b pillar hoop, door bars extending down toward the bottom of the cab a pillars and top bars extending back to the bed.

what about are you looking to know? the ruling to build the cage or just ideas to keep it stream line to the interior of the cab?

If you are over 6ft tall, in order to be completely legal, you will need a lower seat height than stock to meet the helmet placement rule. They want to see 3 inches clearance. If you plan to use some gussets, be careful where you put them. Other than that, find some kind of rubber grommet material for where it meets sheet metal because the squeeking can get old if you plan to street drive it.

All reasons why my truck has no cage. I wish I could commit but I friggin love driving it to work.

Let me find my single cab roll bar pics. It was just a standard 6 point bar, with no interior.

Maybe talk to Brett, dslhtrdr, or Michael Pliska about building cages and whats required there.

Found a company called SealsIt for the sheet metal grommets, here's their Ebay page: http://stores.ebay.com/sealsitstore/_i.html?rt=nc&_ipg=192

As for Keith's cage.... my friends, it was a work of art. The care taken to bend it around the DVD player in the roof, the ability to still use the back seat, and the finish quality was simply amazing to me. A lot of thought went into that. Id call Merchant and ask him if he remembers who built it.

Keith's cage was built here in Idaho, Nathan had it done. I have the builders contact info if needed, he did some work on my Camino when the cage didn't cert to 7.50.

There are certs that you don't have to have rear bars through the window like my camino but they are not good for the street, basically pro stock/funny car cage.

Are you looking for a bar good to 10.0 or something cert'd? Paul Breedlove has the neatest cage I've seen for a street truck, basically all hidden in his dodge. I should be to find out his builder if desired.

I beleive the truck should be capable of lower 9s Rob. I would want something good enough to grow.
