I have gotten two phone calls in the last month about this. Both where saying their rods where machined incorrectly. That the Radius side chamfer was to small. The real issue was that the bearings where installed incorrectly. Installing incorrectly is actually rather easy to do. Basicly if the side of the bearing sits flush with the edge of the big chamfer it is in incorrectly.

I added arrows to both pictures pointing out the gap. There should be a gap between the edge of the bearing and the edge of the chamfer.

Hope this save some cell phone minutes.:coolspot:

Huh, cool, thanks for sharing! So the bearings sit offset from the bore centerline to allow clearance of the radi additional to the chamfer in the rod, right?

Are Dmax mains 3/4 grooved? And anyone tried somthing like a Calico Coated bearing? We used them in our promod and take a beating real well! The actual bearing shells they coat are ACL's.

I have both GM and Clevite bearings in the garage and neither are marked top or bottom as far as I can see.

John, I used Clevite 77 CB#1805 P
On the underside of the bearing they actually say "upper" and "lower":) That right there saved me from phoning you:D

Thats a pretty cool link
Is that who you had do your pistons, also?

My pistons are Naked!

I thought about. But I wanted to see how far one could push one of these stock LB7/LLY pistons. Just because the soupman said you could not do it.:spit:

My next pistons will be forged and Swain coated.:coolspot:
