Anyone else install a Road Armor bumper and find that the truck runs much hotter?
Coolant and transmission seems to be running much hotter when towing.

I am thinking about opening up the center section where a winch could go.

Yep. I had a home built bumper, truck was warm, had the trans built and motor and it overheated daily. Cut a 5"x-18" hole and cold as ice.

Same with the fab fours on my lmm. 15-40 degrees hotter. Cut same size hole and it's better than stock.

The opening for where a winch could go is 2"x8"
I could easily open it up to 6"x22"
Might be cool to install a couple hinges and install 12 volt actuator to open it up when it gets hot.

I installed my winch bumper last month and my temps are running hotter by 20, as well. Installed a winch so I need to find another way to get more air.

Do you ever use the winch? Install a front receiver hitch for the winch to mount to when you need it & cut the bumper up for more air flow

The winch mount is a bolt on to the frame style and if taken off leaves a huge opening for air. I will have to look into how I can fab a receiver hitch into the opening. I am sure that it can be done.

The stock trucks don't overheat. A bigger radiator is just a bandaid for poor airflow.

You can see the opening here before I installed the winch plate and winch.

that opening is allowing air to bypass the cooling stack. I cut my hole out and made a bigger rubber dam to shove the air towards the raditator. motor stays around 178-185 according to the autocal. trans is warmer again but the spin on filter is way past due
