I have my old motor I have been tossing around the idea of having machined .020 over to fix the spot from the broken piston, and build it up. My question is can I reuse the crank and the rods if they are ok? 225k on everything my thought was to reuse them and put in some delipped lb7 pistons.

How much power you shooting for? Guys have bent lbz rods with 650hp, but tuning plays a big part in that.

Big tune on a 475 over stock truck is generally around 625-650, not saying you would run it there but rods tend to come up for sale here every so often for a reasonable price. If it were me I would do rods but I’m hard on riggin. I would have the crank NDT before reusing.

you can use both if they check out good but you being a kodiak and going twins, the weight and natural tendency of the twins will want to put torque down low in the RPM range which is what will bend the rods. 550hp is what banana'ed my rods (granted they were LB7 rods) only 2 months into having twins.

you could have the tuner detorque it but you loose the point of having twins then. i would put a set of manly rods in or what ever those 1600 dollar ones were and have a better piece of mind. johnny never bent rods but he ran a stock turbo on the truck even after building the engine. he was around 500hp. the 72 he has on there now really woke that sucker up but id bet it would have bent rods if he left the engine stock.
