retard timing while running meth?

i would like to run a meth kit and use a 50/50 mix. the only reason i want it is to lower the egts down the quarter mile and pick up a little extra horsepower. i wont be running meth on the streets everyday. so i will be using one stage set to kick on at around 24psi (slightly before my peak psi). my main concern is if i will need to retard the timing in my tunes to account for the 50/50 mix????
from what i understand the pump and jet size have can effect whether i need adjustments or not. can anyone tell me if i might have to retard the timing? thanks. the nozzle it comes with is a 800 CC/MNOTE......whatever that means lol

Hell no man. Put it on and run it!!! I got the labonte kit with 250psi pump and dual nozzles with the biggest two he sells. Progressively comes on at 5psi and maxes out at 22psi.....Hold the Freek on cause it feels stronger than NOS with 50-50 mix....Its sweet.... It does slow down egts but still gets to 1600 in the 1/4 mile:thumb: on edit I have two 882cc injectors :D

badass to hear man. im gonna be running one 800cc jet and a 250psi pump. it would be easy to add another jet :D

Progressively comes on at 5psi and maxes out at 22psi.....Hold the Freek on cause it feels stronger than NOS with 50-50 mix....Its sweet.... I don't know what kind of methanol you use but no way is it close to NOS. I have ran it in many configurations since 05 and the felt power is minimal. I doubt on a mild setup you could ever see 50hp on a dyno. On a 500hp tune a 50;50 mix with 2 625ml nozzles puts out around 30hp on three different trucks that I have seen. With a 50;50 mix cooling is slim to none. unless you start spraying too much water too quick you don't need to mess with timiing. If it rattles when you spray delay the spray 2-3psi.

And I see our two setup verys quiet differently :thumb: I should have stated my nos kit I used to use was only prob like a 70hp shot just to get me off the line drag racing.....Yes, My kit DOES feel as strong if not stronger than my NOS kit did! And as I stated above I am running just alittle more than 2 625cc injectors. Mine also comes in very harsh and fast with it starting at 5 PSI and maxed out at 22psi.....So before jumping all over me I do have a different setup and different method:thumb: I went down to a place that sells race fuel and bought straight methonal for 2.75 a gallon. Mixed it myself with distilled water 50% both. I ran 12.18 at 111mph with a full N20 run and the stuff in my sig. The only thing different this year is ditching the NOS and installed the water injection kit....So i guess we will se if the truck makes more power or not.;) I do know this...Before I couldn't leave 4 black marks taking off with the NOS like I can leaving on the labonte kit:D

On edit: I built my own NOS kit also... Got this kit from jegs- http://www.jegs.com/i/NOS/741/16029/10002/-1?parentProductId=762121 Used a micro switch off the gas pedal for Wot. Just plumbed it into the intake. So as you can tell that is a very small selonoid. I don't run any jet but run it through a small 1/8" line. And NO! I don't purge it:roflmao:

i know water will cool the egts. but im loking for the power gain as well. i ordered a stage 1 kit that comes with 1 800cc nozzle and i ordered another solenoid and another 800cc nozzle. im gonna play with water/meth alot till i find "the sweet spot" thinks for all the info guys.

I just installed a stage 2 snow performance kit on my 07 lbz and it seems to have a noticable horsepower difference,ill be going to the track this thursday, it runs between 8.12 and 8.17 every pass so we will see if it picks up... i played with it on my dodge when it was makin just over 600hp it added an xtra 67 hp at the tires, when it was makin 950hp at the tires it would only make 44 hp at the tires, i think those are ok #s... i always ran a 50/50 mix meth and water....i never messed with the timming on either truck

I ditched my system after I went back to the stock turbo.

with the stock turbo and a race tune the turbo has it work cut out for it trying to burn the fuel so with the methanol there is just nothing more the turbo can do to to provide more air to burn anymore fuel.

When Running straight water you lose a some power EGT's are lower but what the difference between 1600 and 1700 neither is safe

Twins are the only way to go imo:thumb:

i'll be starting with 1, 800cc jet kicking on at 20 psi. might add another 800 after i play with the 1.

With that much meth don't you have to watch out for detonation damage if your tune is too much with the mix all jammed in there? Just read about it in another area and wondered how you determine timing to be careful etc.
