it looks as though the OEM stereo is a DIN 1.5 size. What options are available if I want to replace it with a DIN 1 size stereo, are there custom face plates available, thanks.

Look on metra electronics or crutchfield. They will have everything you need to put a single din in there.
What year truck. My 04 and 06 GMC are both double DIN.

alot of stereo stores have the plastic piece that make it a single i just got one for my 01 and the plastic piece wiring harness and attenna adt was like 70 bucks just from a local store here and it depends where u buy it my 06 has a little storage space under the stereo where the one for the 01 doesent
