Removing bed lined rockers

So I bought the truck with them lined already, looked good until I removed the door moldings. It wasn't taped off at the molding and is kinda rolled in those areas if that makes any sense

So my question is has any one been able to or tried to remove it?

I was curious about heating it up and trying to scrape it off

I use to do spray bed liners, and if it was prepped right and sprayed correctly it can be a huge pain in the but to remove. But it all depends on how it was prepped. Most likely it was sanded underneath with some 60 or 80 grit sand paper. so no matter if it comes off it will be scratched up wherever it was sprayed. It does suck that whoever did it it originally didn't take the moldings off. If it wasn't prepped right you can definitely use a small amount of heat or just do it on a hot summer day and it will maybe peel off, but I would be that it won't. The last time I had to strip a bed it took me 12hrs with an air chisel and that was only half the bed and one fender well.

Good luck. :thumb:

An air chisel! Haha shit

I've got a buddy that paints so if I decide to go through with it I will repaint the whole truck, it is really smooth so it makes me think it won't be as strong.

Looks can be deceiving, I guess what I would do is maybe pick a inconspicuous spot and start peeling the corner back just to see how it peels off, and to see how scuffed up it is under there. If you don't tear it and see that it is going to be a huge pain, you can take a small dab of super glue and re attach that corner you started peeling. Just don't get to carried away. You'll know right away how well it was prepped.

Using a heat inducer we got it off in about 3hrs, actually wasn't too bad!

It was $900 for materials, as far as base clear I have no idea ha I just helped sand it.

It's still not 100% we are doing the roof and rockers in two weeks
