Since its starting to get cold (here at least), I'm starting to research remote starting systems. Its a pain to get in the truck when its 11 outside and have to drive miles before it warms up. So, I'm currently looking at the AutoPage systems and they look promising. Anyone have any recommendations or stories they want to share? Any input appreciated.
Thanks

I love my remote start, But I have no idea what model it is sorry... I know its fully ajustable though so you can set your glow plug delay up to 1min, I think mine is set at like 20sec though. It also has a turbo timer which is nice if you have been running the truck hard you dont have to sit there, just hit the E-brake and the truck will shut itself off after a couple minutes at idle. I will see if I can find out what make it is....

I have had an AutoPage system in my truck for 3 years. Never had an issue with it. I was slod on the unit because you didn't have to purchase an extra box for the glow plug delay. You comes set for 10 seconds. You can also hit the start button while the truck is running (key is in the "run" postion) and it will let the truck run when you pull the key out. It will stay running for 20 minutes, or untill you hit the start button again and it will shut off. I've been very happy with the system and the alram sensativity is adjustable as well. I have the 2 way key fob and it's very handy. I have been very happy with it.

There's a lot of other options you can add on too. It will tell you what the temp is inside the cab, roll the windows down and some other stuff. Things I didn't get. You can also get sensors for under the truck. If someone try's to crawl under your truck to steal anyhing, the alram will go off. It comes with hood, and trunk switches with the kit. I did add the cab siren. It's freakin loud!!! I figure they might be able to stand the alarm outside the truck long enough to get it started but a person will not be able to mess around in the cab for very long with that siren blarring.

How much is autopage?

I've always heard good about astrostart.

My wants are intensive - remote start, delay for glow plugs and adjust high idle.

I got mine 2nd hand. Removed it from another truck, and got to keep it for free! It was their hi-end system with all the bells and whistles:thumb:

if you get one be careful to check that they didn't tap into the obd-II port...they did on mine and it caused me a world of troubles including 1 fried ecm...

also if you plug your truck in it takes like half as long to warm up...

Mine ties into the purple wire on the OBD port, I just put a quick disconect in line, that I un-plug when messing with the ECM.. But yeah I was pulling my hair out for a little while trying to figure why my programer would not work after I got it back from the remote start install......

x2 thats what i did..i actually wired it to a switch on the dash...it took me hours on the phone with quadzilla and superchips to figure this out. then one day i brought it into the dealer to get a new head unit programmed never flipped the switch and bam fried the ecm with the tech-II

Why do you need 20 seconds? All you are accomplishing then (by waiting even longer after the light goes out) is running your batteries dead. :)

LLY's only need ~4 seconds even when its below 0 degrees. LBZ's and LMM's need even less.

contrary to popular beleif/assumption, leaving the key on longer than the glow plug light dictates (before cranking the engine) or """cycling the glow plugs""" more than once before cranking the engine, DOES NOT DO ANYTHING beneficial on a duramax when the outside temps are cold. Remember this isnt a 6.5 or a 6.9 IDI...its a "next generation" diesel that doesnt really need any special operating procedures; GM designed the dmax to be driven by anyone who can figure out how to put the key in the ignition... the glow plug module is a lot smarter than the egg timer's they put on those older diesels.

If my batteries go dead from 20 sec of ignition delay, Ill invest in new batteries;) Besides it was what they set it for not me.....
